In 2016 Tramuntana Flow and all volunteers held the very first Charity Yoga Retreat and raised enough money to complete the walls for the first level of our school.
When I met Serena Bufalino in March 2016 I immediately felt her enthusiasm and she inspired me to start the first charity retreat at Tramuntana Flow. Over 20 volunteers supported this event at La Casa de La Calma through their work.
The Haiti School Building Project was born in March 2011 by Toronto’s most at risk population. The project was implemented to build their self esteem and give them a sense of purpose as they give back and help others. The primary goal of the Haiti School Building Project was to fund, construct and establish a safe, well equipped school in Canaan, so the children living there would have the opportunity to learn and grow, just as our students did in Toronto.
Serena started taking Toronto’s most at risk youth and pairing them up with the most at risk youth in the world, Haiti, and through education and learning creating a miracle. Through in class programming and leadership skills The Haiti School Building Project would give youth the opportunity to attend a safe school building and receive an adequate education regardless of their life circumstances and or location on the globe. Their primary goal was to empower youth both locally and globally by showing them they had the potential to bring about great change in their lives and the world around them.
